events

queer/disrupt has hosted numerous events dedicated to questioning/breaking traditional norms within our society and making queer theory accessible. We have done this through lectures, film screenings and workshops. Most of our events are online which means people from all around the world have been able to attend! We are looking forward to putting on our upcoming events and are immensely proud of the events we have already hosted.

Mystical Transformations: Gender in Mythology and the Occult

Monday 25th October 2021 - 6.30pm (BST)

Speakers: Sinéad Keogh and Nate Richardson-Read

We are very excited to present the following event, which will involve two talks by Sinéad Keogh and Nate Richardson-Read. Sinéad Keogh will discuss 'Gender Magic and the Queer Occult', centring on the histories of “queerness as outcast” in relation to the occult through the perspective of “normative” Western societies. Nate Richardson-Read looks at 'The Marriage of Þorr', seeking to re-examine Þrymskviđa (Þrym’s Poem) in the Poetic Edda where transformation in relation to gender takes place, using queer theory and correlation to modern queer experiences.
